winter was over. some snow is actually on tap for tomorrow a little bit. philadelphia streets department is preparing the salt trucks tonight here at the depot in feltonville. 70 city trucks will deploy tomorrow morning. let's get the latest on this wintry mix weekend system. let's go to storm tracker6 live double scan and meteorologist cecily tynan. >> and jim, double scan live showing that there is some moisture riding along a front to our south. it's not a big storm and even now temperatures right now are way too warm for snow but we will be cooling out as we head through the overnight hours. 44 degrees in philadelphia right now but if you look at those arrows, those stream lines from the northwest that's the wind direction. buffalo and binghamton, temperatures in the 20's. we will be dropping into the 20's overnight and then temperatures will be really holding in the 30's. so, the next 12 hours at 1 o'clock in the morning below freezing and then early tomorrow morning 29 degrees so a cold start to your saturday and then some of that moisture will be moving in right around

identity. 18 years later. >>> right now at 5:00, a step forward, a new report says the philadelphia police department is making progress after concerns about its use of force. nbc 10's deanna durante shows us how the department has changed. >> we'll speak about police reform positively and the benefits of it. just like any task or undertaking that you may be involved in, if you believe in it which is what we do, it makes it far easier. >> reporter: philadelphia police commissioner richard ross is continuing plans set in place under the former commissioner. ramsey was concerned about the number of police shootings and use of force and called in a special department of justice unit. last year, nbc 10 news showed you what was being labelled a scathing report. one filled with criticisms of the department. and that outlined 91 different ways police needed to reform in order to bring use of force numbers down. some of it was retraipning, others included bringing in an outside agency. a new unit will be a separate group of police. especially trained and tasked with investigating their own.

afternoon with that sunshine and temperatures not bad. 48 in philadelphia. it is a far cry from that 67 yesterday as the front is now way down to the south and we have those northwesterly winds moving n it's only in the 20's to the north, 33 in pittsburgh so with the flow coming in out of the northwest you can see what is moving in our direction a little taste of more winter-like air. as we look at the next 12 hours it's going to be a slow drop overnight and the clouds will continue to thicken up later on in the evening and overnight hours. by about 3 o'clock or 5 o'clock in the morning that's when the temperatures settle back into the upper 20's for the city. mid to low 20's in those northwestern suburbs. storm tracker6 live double scan will show there's a frontal boundary direction draped right across the center of the country. this is the dividing line of the cold air to the north, warmer air to the south. significant ice storm kansas and saint louis and we're on the edge of this precipitation moving in from the west. tomorrow light snow begins between about 10 o'clock in the morn

overnight. it happened on 25th street, ritner street, south philadelphia around 2:30 this morning. the man is now in stable condition at presbyterian hospital. moreover night gun incident throughout the city.
